There are 2 categories of Damages in Personal Injury Cases: Special & General
Special Damages
Special Damages are damages for which a Personal Injury Victim can recover money compensation. Special Damages are usually readily quantifiable, and they have exact values. The following list contains examples of Special Damages:
- Cost of medical care that is reasonably required to cure or relieve the injured person of the effects of the injury;
- Amount of lost wages while the injured person is off work, recovering from the injury; and
- Cost to repair or replace a damaged vehicle
General Damages
General Damages are also damages for which a Personal Injury Victim can recover money compensation. However, General Damages are not usually readily quantifiable, and they don't have exact values. The following list contains examples of General Damages:
- Money compensation for Pain & Suffering;
- Money compensation for Mental Anguish;
- Money compensation for physical disfigurement or impairment; and
- Money compensation for Loss of Consortium.
